Bridge House, Black Mountain, North Carolina

This house is built over a small intermittent stream that traverses the middle of the site. The foundation phase was done in the summer of 2008, when several months of very little rain resulted in a dry bed, making stream stewardship during construction much easier. Due to the height of the surrounding ridges, passive solar was not an option for this site.

SIZE: 2240 sf conditioned space, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, plus freestanding studio and freestanding garage with enclosed storage room

SITE SIZE: 1.7 Acres

COMPLETED: 2009

CONTRACTOR: Steve Williams Builder

STRUCTURAL: McDonald Structural Engineering, Eric McDonald

MAIN SUSTAINABLE FEATURES: NC Healthy Built Home
